The Rule of Law

The rule of law is the legal principle to govern the nation, as opposed to being governed by the arbitrary decisions of individual government officials.

It primarily refers to the influence and authority of law in society, particularly as a constraint upon the behavior of people including the behavior of the government officials.

The rule of law implies that every citizen is subject to the law including the lawmakers themselves.
The lack of rule of law is one of the major issues in Pakistan. Terrorism and corruption are just because people do not accept and respect the rule of law. Since inception we paid very little concentration upon our legislation and if few people contribute in this regard. But then the law-maker by themselves broke up their own laws. That conveys a very negative message to the society that “ The biggest law is the Power”.
And there is no law for a person who has power. Obviously,  when this concept grew up in the society that Power is the above then the law. And individually, People started moving towards those things that have power. Like somebody labeled PRESS on the back of their car, someone wrote MNA, MPA, minister, and the lawyer just because the police will be afraid of him and will not ask for the law.
This makes the Law subsidiary and society got the concept of Power. Then People started collectively getting the Power, and when they got it, they challenged the state. Like the Taliban, they make their own territories.

When no one gave importance to the rule of law then things erode slowly and a strayed from its real path. But unfortunately, this thing starts with the top-level management. As ‘water comes from the top’ same is the case here.
So, I pledge you and the authorities that whatever the law is follow it. And set an example from the top because this is something that we can learn only through observation. And if you do so positivity will spread up in society by itself.
And for this, you don’t need any infrastructure or a lot of money.

Let make it more clear for you with an example that recently, we saw in the news that an MNA of the ruling party ( Imran Ali shah) slapped a man ( Dawood) in Public. And no legal measure was taken in this case. The party asked him to give the person 500 thousand rupees and go for negotiation while the Supreme Court asked him to deposit 3million rupees in the dam fund. And people called it justice. No, my dear! That isn’t justice. That is the complete violation of the law. If the FIR was charged against that person and the court announced him convicted then he will not be able to hold the public office. And if a person doesn’t respect the public shouldn’t hold the office.
But the authorities saved him through his money from the legal action. And that conveyed a very negative message to the society.

When there is a rule of law, then ‘Every person is subject to the law’.
And the importance of the rule is that it ensures the safety of public interest, justice, the welfare of people, and the development of the country in real sense.
